I saw you walk across the garden.
Flowers turning seeking shade.
In the trees the birds stopped singing
And all the colours began to fade!
You stood by the pond your finger pointing.
The fish rose and sank again.
You held your breast and started screaming
And the whole world shook with your pain!
I couldn’t run for my heart was pounding.
My mouth dry, I failed to call.
I sank to my knees my eyes wide open.
I held my breath as I watched you fall!
The silence lasted for a lifetime.
The water broke turning brown.
Your petticoat a flash of light’ning
And through my tears I saw you drown!
A cold mist crept in from the valley.
From the woods a mournful cry.
In every direction mourners came running
Their fists raised up high against the sky!
We gathered by the settling water.
And in the depths we saw you sleep.
And in your arms you held a stranger
The lover now you could keep!
I saw you walk across the garden.
Flowers turning seeking shade
In the trees the birds stopped singing
And all the colours began to fade!
I know it’s wrong and though I loved you
I was hiding as you walked on by.
And in my hand I the broken dagger…
And in my garden I watched you die!
